We have encountered several cases where the prefilled BAS BPAY Payment Reference Number (PRN) in LodgeiT differs from the PRN shown in the ATO portal. It appears that LodgeiT may be using an older reference number. Is there a way to update the PRN in LodgeiT?

Answer

This situation occurs because the ATO made changes to how Payment Reference Numbers (PRNs) are generated. As a result, there are now two valid PRN formats in circulation.

  • Both PRNs are correct and supported by the ATO systems.

  • Clients can make payments using either PRN, and the payment will still be allocated to the correct account.

Although it may seem unusual to see two different formats, there is no issue with either being used.

 Important: If absolute confirmation is required, we recommend contacting the ATO directly to verify which PRN the client should use for payment.
