Software ID"is a unique identifier assigned to a user's LodgeiT software account, which is necessary for connecting the software to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) via the Standard Business Reporting (SBR) system. It acts as a bridge for securely linking and authenticating the tax reporting software with the government’s online systems to simplify and validate tax lodgement processes.

How it works:

  • When you create a LodgeiT account, the system provides you with this unique Software ID.
  • You then provide this Software ID to the ATO using the ATO Access Manager platform.
  • This connection process authorizes LodgeiT as your SBR-enabled software partner for submitting reports.
  • The Software ID ensures that the data submitted through LodgeiT is properly validated before being lodged with the ATO.
  • If there are errors related to the Software ID (e.g., SBR.GEN.AUTH.008), it means the ID entered in the ATO Access Manager and LodgeiT do not match, requiring correction.
  • The ID remains the same unless changes occur in Tax Agent Number (TAN) or Australian Business Number (ABN), which would require updating the nomination in the ATO Access Manager.
